PROPAGANDA III WORLD TOUR
2007-2009

In 2003, THE FIRST PROPAGANDA ART SHOW opened in San Francisco.

In 2005, PROPAGANDA 2.0 opened in San Francisco and Los Angeles.

START SOMA invited artists to create political artwork for the PROPAGANDA III WORLD TOUR.

Artists from around the world submitted nearly 600 political posters, and the entire collection is now viewable online:

THE PROPAGANDA III ONLINE GALLERY

There has been no curation and absolutely NO CENSORSHIP of any sort - EVERY submitted poster was included in the exhibition with NO exceptions.

Expressed political viewpoints, be they left, right, or center, are displayed side-by-side, both online and in the series of ongoing real world exhibitions. NO art will be sold at any of the shows, although copies of the posters are available for sale through the websites of many of the participating artists. This is NOT a commercial art show, but rather a celebration of free speech + untrammeled freedom of expression.

Following successful openings in San Francisco and Austin, the PROPAGANDA III WORLD TOUR continues with the following stops:

AUGUST 2008: Copenhagen, Denmark

NOVEMBER 2008: Zug, Switzerland

NOVEMBER 2008: Washington, D.C.

JANUARY 2009: Prague, Czech Republic

START SOMA collected THREE physical copies of each poster in the show, which were distributed as follows:

Poster Set I: Donated to the Center for the Study of Political Graphics in Los Angeles. CSPG’s growing archive currently contains more than 60,000 domestic and international posters produced in a staggering array of visual styles and printing media, dating from the Russian Revolution to the present. With 95% of the archive dating from the 1960s to the present, CSPG maintains the largest archive of post World War II political posters in the U.S. and one of the largest in the world. Needless to say, we are absolutely honored that the posters from PROPAGANDA III are permanently archived for future research and exhibition.
Poster Set II: Currently touring Europe.
Poster Set III: Currently touring North America.

PROPAGANDA III will continue to tour the globe through 2009, and we are currently adding galleries + venues worldwide to the schedule.

The only requirements for participation include hosting the exhibition + shipping the posters to the next show.
